Würzburg

Spot information

The Jewish path is a historic path that leads from Oberer Burgweg to Leistenstraße. It is a reminder of the time when, from 1642, Jews were only allowed to enter the city for trading on an hourly basis and had to leave at nightfall. The path was the shortest route for Jewish traders from surrounding towns. A legend tells of a massacre of Jews in 1298 by a farmer named Rintfleisch. Today, the path is accessible to pedestrians and bears witness to the history of the Jewish community in Würzburg.
